Zarnab Shastri alleged private video leak sparks outrage

TikTok star becomes latest victim in string of influencer leaks; FIA urged to act as authenticity remains unverified, AI manipulation suspected

Pakistani social media is embroiled in yet another privacy scandal as an alleged private video of TikTok star Zarnab Shastri went viral across Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok in April 2025. While the video’s authenticity remains unconfirmed, its rapid spread has triggered widespread condemnation, with many suspecting AI manipulation to tarnish her reputation. This incident mirrors previous leaks involving influencers like Minahil Malik, Imsha Rehman, and Sajal Malik, reigniting demands for stronger cybercrime laws and accountability.

Zarnab, who has not issued any official statement, deleted her Instagram account following the leak. Digital rights activists and netizens have decried the violation, urging the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to intervene. Public reaction remains divided—some dismiss it as a publicity stunt, while others emphasize the recurring exploitation of female influencers in Pakistan’s digital space.

The controversy echoes past cases: Minahil Malik faced similar allegations in 2024, accusing ex-boyfriend S.K. of orchestrating leaks, while Imsha Rehman recently pardoned the accused in her case after an FIA-led arrest. Sajal Malik also battled fake explicit videos earlier this year, highlighting systemic issues of non-consensual content and defamation.

With no formal complaint filed yet, authorities face mounting pressure to address the pattern of cyber harassment. Rights groups stress the need for robust legal frameworks to protect online users, particularly women, from privacy breaches and AI-driven smear campaigns. As debates intensify, the incident underscores Pakistan’s urgent need for digital reform and victim support mechanisms.
